Gainsborough Waste and Texas Outhouse Featured in Waste Advantage

Gainsborough Waste and Texas Outhouse were prominently featured in a recent edition of the Waste Advantage Magazine. The article profiled our leadership team, the expansion of commercial services for businesses, and our company culture focused on team safety.

Where Does the Gainsborough Waste and Texas Outhouse Story Begin?

The story of our company began in 1994 when Noble Carl, the president of Gainsborough Waste, joined forces with his father Carl to serve the needs of construction companies removing debris from job sites in Houston.

At the time, there was no consistent process serving waste debris removal. The leadership team decided it was time to address this need in the marketplace using roll-off dumpsters to remove debris.

From there, Noble’s brother, Paul Carl, had the idea of introducing Texas Outhouse to serve another need at construction sites: portable toilets and related services.

Our Company Has Continued Growing with Houston’s Needs

In recent years, we have expanded our offerings to serve the growing needs of businesses in the Houston region, specifically to increase our recycling output.

September 2017: Texas Outhouse opened a wastewater treatment plant on site at our main location east of Downtown Houston.

“We needed a way to deal with our large waste volume customers, giving them 24-hour access for disposal. The wastewater treatment plant gives us the capacity to process 50,000 gallons per day,” Jason Odom, operations manager, told Waste Advantage Magazine.

April 2018: Gainsborough Waste opened a new transfer station, which increased capacity in our two facilities to service an average of 3,500 yards per day of construction waste and expanded our recycling capabilities.

“We decided a few years ago that our existing transfer station was reaching capacity, and our management team determined that we needed to develop another facility in order to handle business growth,” Donna Hunt, chief financial officer, told the magazine.

The Gainsborough Waste and Texas Outhouse Culture is Built on Safety

Our company’s goal is to continue serving the growing needs of Houston businesses in a safe and reliable manner. To that end, we are committed to providing the highest quality of industry training for our frontline workers and drivers.

Embedded in our company culture is attention to how we train and optimizing the work conditions for our employees.

“We have a new computer system that we use for continuing driver training and shop training. We also have bi-weekly toolbox safety meetings. We’ve focused on creating a safety culture where nobody gets hurt; that’s our goal,” said Jason Odom.

“Our trucks are serviced based on hours instead of mileage. We service more than what is required, due to how rough Houston roads and traffic can be on our vehicles.”

A culture of safety will ensure that we are equipped to continue growing our collective capabilities along with Houston businesses.
